NEW YORK, October 22, 2007 - Thumbplay® (www.thumbplay.com), the largest and fastest growing mobile entertainment destination in the U.S., today announced that it is the exclusive provider for ringtones and other mobile content across the AOL network, which reaches 114 million unique visitors a month in the U.S. (comScore, Q2 2007).
AOL will integrate Thumbplay's content throughout AOL® Music, AOL® Games, the AIM® instant messaging service, Winamp, and Spinner. Through Thumbplay's contextual integration on these sites, visitors can easily register their mobile phone and download relevant ringtones, wallpapers, games and mobile video over-the-air to their mobile devices.
In conjunction with integration across AOL's entertainment and communications-focused properties, Thumbplay content is also integrated within the new AOL Mobile online destination (http://mobile.aol.com) which provides consumers with information on handset-specific content and services. Thumbplay will also provide expanded content integration into AOL's mobile search engine. Thumbplay enables contextual relevance via XML feeds, hosted API's and an experience branded for AOL, so that links on U2 pages point to U2-specific mobile content.
"We are pleased to provide access to Thumbplay's extensive catalog of mobile entertainment content to the millions of unique visitors to AOL's popular online properties," said Scott Falconer, Executive Vice President, AOL Mobile. "We also look forward to seeing how AOL Mobile's products can extend and enhance Thumbplay's mobile community, content sharing and communications capabilities throughout Thumbplay.com."
"This deal is defining for Thumbplay," said Are Traasdahl, Thumbplay's CEO and founder. I'm pleased to say that this reinforces Thumbplay's position as the leading U.S. provider of mobile content to consumers who are looking to discover mobile content, manage it, and share their personalized mobile entertainment experience with others."
